These are the words of the Blessed Mother on this day:
Be reminded not to wish to be rewarded for what you consider good works while you live in separation. It is far better to trust that God the Father, the Almighty will know what your reward shall be. Do not allow yourselves to consider that, because you act in what you consider to be justice, you will be able to eradicate evil from your life.
Trust in the Father, pray for each of your brothers and sisters, wherever they may be, whatever they may do, good or evil.
God, the Father, the Almighty knows every reason for every action of each one of you. Remember how my son died not for His sin, but for the sin of humanity. Do you believe that it was beyond His power to destroy those who persecuted Him? He died that you may know how to oppose evil. He died to show those who hated Him that God, the Father, the Almighty loved them as well as He loves each and every one.
Similarly, not one amongst you can confront evil without the help of God. To confront even the worst form of evil from your own ability, no matter how great, carries you into a condition of total violence, which is similar to the evil you confront. The Father does not reward such violence, not on Earth and not in the Kingdom.
Therefore, when evil confronts you, when a brother hates you, ask the brother the reason for such hatred and do all in your power to eradicate the hate in the brother's heart. Do not make the mistake of telling your brothers that you know God better than he does! No one can begin to understand the infinite goodness of God, the Father, the Almighty!
If you succeed in eradicating evil from the heart of your brothers, that is the moment that you will come closer to the Father.
Therefore do not pretend that you do not see the evil when it is inflicted on a brother by another, with hate. Evil feeds on hate and when evil confronts evil, it destroys more than evil: it can destroy the soul of those who allow it to work amongst you!
Be patient, therefore and trust in the Father. He will not forget your reward! Rather keep constant in your mind the need not to fall victim of the wiles of evil. Evil is ever alert to destroy mankind upon whom he pours his hate as a measure of his offence against God, the Father, the Almighty.
Do not be deluded into the belief that what is done on Earth has no consequence to the salvation of souls. Your reward is not on Earth, just as eternal pain is not in the Kingdom of the Father.
She smiles and leaves.
6 OCTOBER 2001
LOURDES
The days between 22 October last and today hold one of the highest spiritual experiences in my life. I have learned what a pilgrimage is for. It should not be “an adventure” nor “a hype” nor “a promotion” promising vaguely or forcefully, experiences of the spirit.
A pilgrimage must be born from the desire to follow in the footsteps of particularly chosen persons to whom God entrusted special and different missions. The Church has map marked such places because that is where some particular truth was spelled out very clearly for the benefit of the children of God. Our Father cares for us in every way. He is calling us constantly to the Truth.
In Lourdes, Mary the Virgin Mother of Jesus, was sent to little Bernadette to inform us that she is “the Immaculate Conception”, that human person whom God created to live her entire life in the glorious state of sinlessness.
I confess that I was half hoping to “receive” something special on my visit. As usual, I was made to wait until the very last moments of my stay in Lourdes for that special “insight”.
I visited the Sanctuary every day, the Sanctuary of the Holy Rosary, the “Superior”, the Grotto of Bernadette, the vast and magnificent area where so much religious activity takes place. I prayed in front of the beautiful statue of Our Lady, as Bernadette saw her. The statue crowned and surrounded by a circular bed of white roses. I saw the rose bush of Bernadette, blooming in pale pink, on the rocks of the grotto. I could not walk all the Via Crucis for lack of time. In all that I saw I was overwhelmed, not by the man-made magnificence of the place, but by the same atmosphere that I find here, in Chittering.
I prayed for you all. I deposited your petitions. I met a very nice and obliging priest who offered to say the 8 special Masses I asked for. I attended Mass, as I do here.
In Lourdes I breathed the same joy and faith which I experience here. I asked for the grace of healing from the pain which my health problems cause me. I bathed my feet in the water of the Grotto.
Nothing happened until my last morning in Lourdes. I got up early and went to the Sanctuary. There was no one there except two men who were cleaning the wax of the votive candles. I lit my candles again. I made my way again to the Grotto and knelt in front of the altar and asked again that my pain be relieved. I heard a little voice ask me, “Why do you ask for more graces? You have received so many already!” I looked up and saw a little figure in Nun habit, by the side of the altar. I answered: “Dear Bernadette, dear Saint, I ask for the relief of my pain, that I may do more work.” She said, “God knows what He wants you to do. You have received a very special privilege. Be grateful. When you ask, ask not because you need, ask from the love of God. Take the water and mix it with the water in your place. Ask the priest to bless this union which will give health to many who ail. Go in the love of God.” As she finished speaking, the water started to seep from the rock abundantly. I washed my face and my feet again, and the pain left me. I also put some of that water in a small container which I will keep by me for as long as I live.
The two workers came to me and helped me insert the last two candles in the special slots.
