Awards and Recognitions
Throughout more than 30 years of humanitarian work, Adelia Bernard received written and verbal recognition from popes, kings, world
leaders, humanitarian groups, the news media and those she had worked with. However, her
greatest joy was in receiving correspondence from those refugees she had
helped and saved. That she loved them, there is no doubt, but
even that love is attributed to God. In
her book One Heart: For the love of Christ’s Church she writes:
“...one night while in prayer, after a visit from the Blessed Mother. I suddenly realised that I was in the midst of suffering people, not because I loved them among all others, but because Jesus loved them and I was being given the grace to love as Jesus loved.”
While she had much to be proud of, in her humility, Adelia never bragged about her achievements or the many distinguished personalities she met and worked with. We therefore leave it to the photographs, videos, newspaper articles and to those who benefited from, and supported her in her work to acknowledge her outstanding contribution.
