Overseas Projects
The Duyan ni Maria orphanage in Luzon, Philippines needed to be relocated. The previous orphanage was the home of over 40 children and over 8 live-in adults who cared for the children.
One Heart Association worked to partially fund the design and construction of the new orphanage so that God's work, being performed by the Sisters, could continue. On 18 May 2015 we saw the successful transfer of land from a kind donor into the hands of the Duyan ni Maria orphanage. This was the key milestone before One Heart commenced funding support for the construction of the new orphanage. One Heart was the founding benefactor, committing a total of $50,000 towards the construction of the orphanage, $25,000 of which was transferred to the Sisters in November 2015. One Heart continued to raise funds for Duyan ni Maria with the aim of supporting the new orphanage operationally. Norm Bernard, Adelia's husband worked hard to obtain local and international support for the completion of the orphanage and the ongoing support of the Sisters. The design of the new development, which acknowledges Adelia Bernard's support, is included below. |

May 2017 Update
On 29 May 2017 the Duyan ni Maria orphanage in Philippines was officially opened and a delegation of One Heart members were honoured to be able to attend the ceremony. During the ceremony, One Heart were recognised by the Duyan ni Maria Board of Directors for our involvement in initiating the project (as the founding benefactors) and for our support to help the project to completion. A special thanks was also given by Sr. Alex for the prayers and support of Adelia and Norman in helping to make the project a reality. |
At the reception, President Mario Valente spoke on behalf of One Heart Association, recalling Adelia's commitment to the project as God's will and that the Blessed Mother considered Sr Alex as the "leaven". President Mario also added that, with God's blessing, One Heart would continue to do its best to help with the needs of the children.
During 2014, the One Heart Association organised for the collection and transportation of donated hospital equipment to the Philippines to support the efforts of the Angeles University Foundation in Angeles City, Pampagna (http://www.aufmc.org/about.htm).
One Heart organised for a 20 foot sea container to be packed to the brim with thousands of sterile surgical instruments, medical equipment and various hospital goods donated to good causes by recently decommissioned hospitals in Western Australia.
The container was shipped from Fremantle Depot, Perth to the Philippines courtesy of the Angeles University Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that supports the Angeles University Foundation Medical Centre in Pampagna which also provides free medical care in the central Luzon area of the Philippines.
The donated hospital goods, which also included several hospital beds, walking aids, neonatal bio-medical machinery and blood pressure machines, had been collected by One Heart members over a period of several months.
In a huge team effort personally led by One Heart President Mario Valente, these goods were collected at different times from different hospitals, unloaded at a central storage point, sorted and then packed and loaded for shipment via sea.
One Heart members also assisted in the preparation of a complete inventory of what was to be transported and in coordinating the collection of donated goods with various Western Australian hospitals.
President Mario also hosted a delegation from the Angeles University Foundation which arrived in Perth during early 2014 to inspect and assess the suitability of the goods for donation and transportation.
Finally, the goods were received in the Philippines in December 2014 and are now currently being utilised at in various hospitals throughout Angeles City.
One Heart members were proud to be able to help the people in need.

In January 2016, One Heart picked up a large load of hospital equipment from the now closed Swan Districts Hospital. In March 2016, this equipment, along with miscellaneous items from Hollywood Private Hospital, were shipped to the Angeles University Foundation in a 40' sea container. During a delegation visit to the Philippines, One Heart members met with the Angeles University Foundation who extended their deep gratitude for the shipment.
In discussions with family members of the Angeles Foundation about Duyan ni Maria, they committed their foundation to help to complete the construction of the orphanage as well as to provide new furniture.

Australian Projects
Members of the One Heart Association walk the streets of the Perth City Centre every Friday night, bringing food and the love of God to the homeless. The project was initially dubbed the "Banana Run" as one of the members brought bananas to hand out. Today One Heart Association funds the purchase of food, clothing and other miscellaneous supplies. One Heart hopes to widen this project to eventually bring greater love and blessings on those who need God's grace in a difficult period of their life.
